Schizophrenia treatment in Indiana

Schizophrenia is treatable, and hallucinations are far more common in the general population than most people realize.

Putting hallucinations in context

Hallucination-like experiences can occur during the transition into or out of sleep, and do not, by themselves, establish a diagnosis of schizophrenia. Many other issues can also cause hallucinations, including sleep deprivation, fever, substances, grief and certain medical conditions.

A hallucination on its own is not a diagnosis. What matters is the wider picture, over time.

Common symptoms

  • Hallucinations — hearing, seeing or sensing things others do not
  • Delusions — fixed beliefs that don't change with contrary evidence
  • Disorganized thinking or speech
  • Reduced motivation, expression or social engagement
  • Difficulty with concentration and memory

How schizophrenia is treated

Schizophrenia is treated with medications and therapy. Ongoing psychiatric care, consistent follow-up and support from family or other people involved in your care all contribute to stability.

Please note that Zalfi does not offer long-acting injectables (LAIs) at this time. If your care plan requires them, we can talk with you about that.
